I'm sure he's lovely, but I blame the director for this

Because I think it had potential. What a waste for poor Cillian Murphy to do. Weird. I'm confused. Why? So, anyway while I was cringing and during a few scenes. (I get embarrassed for people, even actors. Its emotionally draining) I decided its all the director's fault. Or the writer's. But I think the writer may have directed, so yeah its his fault. Because the trailer was cute. I just feel some tweaking was needed and it would have made all the difference and its a shame. But its obviously all Soter's fault. Like, those scenes that made me feel bad (embarrassed) for the actors...could he not have just had some other takes? Lets try that again guys? Um, no? Silliness.

Give Paul Soter a break. It's his first time writing and directing a movie on his own. I just watched it today on DVD and I was impressed greatly by everyone. Everyone is used to seeing him as Broken Lizard and that it'll take time for every nay sayer to see him as an individual film maker.

Good point. It's not perfect, but with the many paint-by-numbers romantic comedies out there, I like this one a lot.

Jeez. I didn't completely hate it. I just thought it was a shame because a few minor changes could have made it so much better. I liked the premise. And the trailer was well done, so I guess I had expectations. I thought a couple of scenes were pretty damn bad and made me crinkle my brow and think "ouch". Particularly, the one near the end when Neil runs out of his house excited and squealing "oh my god oh my god.!!" Ouch. I thought the love scene didnt really fit the tone of the rest of the film. Oh, and some other stuff I dont really even remember anymore. I mean Cillian Murphy is pretty cute, even without his real accent, and I didn't abhor L.L either, although Violet could have been more interesting played with a wee bit more subtlety.

I agree it was lacking in certain areas. I think Lucy was just wrong for the part. She was trying so hard to play a young 20 something that she went overboard I think. Cillian was good as usual but what a waste of his talent in this film.
