There seems to be a lot of animosity towards Lil Kim on this board and I'm curious as to why. I know she wasn't fond of her portrayal in the film, but personally I don't think it showed her in a negative light. The movie makes it seem as though she had genuine feelings for Big and was hurt at the way he cast her aside for Faith, yet kept her around as a mistress - minus the respect. I felt as though she was desperate to hold onto him, so she put up with his nonsense.
But mostly everyone here seems to think she was a whore in the movie. Why is that?
Maybe because of her lyrics? Not a fan of her at all but I have heard a lot of her lyrics and it does make her seem like a whore. I thought the girl who portrayed her was spot on imo, and had really good flow and delivery every time she spat. But I can see how the real Kim wasn't fond of her portrayal, maybe it wasn't her portrayal but her image? If you hear any of Kims lyrics she's supposed to be a badass, "no man can hold me down" type of girl, then in this movie they made her look like she was whoop'd by Biggie. Idk why else would she not be fond of her portrayal, plus she's Lil Kim lol what else did she expect?
She didn't like her portrayal because according to her Biggie was in love with her and she was a very important if not the most important woman (after his daugther and mother) in his life.
I don't really understand the issue either, if anything it made Biggie look like a user, not Kim
As for her lyrics, I think she was just trying to create an image by being overly sexy- I'm not saying I agree with her style, just that it's her own. I find it funny anyone would be offended with it given male rappers have been doing it alot longer- 50 cent, Snoop etc
Do guys like "the thing"? They like it better than no thing.
Yeah I read somewhere that Lil Kim was not happy with how she was portrayed. I'm not seeing where she is coming from. Naturi(sp?) played her to the T!!!! If you dress like a whore, then expect people to call you one. Yeah I know Lil Kim has her own style of dressing. But seriously, if you are so concerned with how people view you, then don't dress like a whore.
I watched the interview. To me it seems she was upset because no one reached out to ask for her opinions. But ummm she could've contacted them if she felt so strongly about it. She stated it didn't show her life correctly. Last time I checked the movie was about Biggie not her!
It's all fun and games until someone gets caught. Then it's larceny.
So basically because of her lyrics and how she dresses on stage? Wow. I mean she was an entertainer. The first woman to do "hardcore" rap. Men rap about all sorts of explicit things. So why the double standard?
As for her clothing. It was stage wear. An overtly sexual appearance to go along with her music. Though her off stage apparel is somewhat lacking in the style department lol.
Personally I have mixed feelings about Lil Kim, but I don't think the movie showed her to be so bad. I actually felt bad for her character....
