Me too: 100%: I've been saying this for years. I blame in particular Vibe Magazine. Everyone concerned from the publisher to the journalists have blood on their hands with the inflammatory stuff they published which made the situation even worse. What's really disgusting is that Vibe was co-founded by Quincy Jones - a black man with children of his own who should've known better (seeing as many of his children were in BIG and Pac's age range) and stepped in to ask the editor and writing staff to show some responsibility.
Rather than encourage all concerned to calm down and see it all for the petty BS that it was, Vibe was at forefront of the hip-hop media whores milking the situation for every $ possible. After 2PAC recorded "Hit Em Up", Vibe spoke to Prodigy of Mobb Deep and printed his comments about planning violence if he ever ran into 2PAC in person. They even gave Mobb Deep a indirect free advert for their forthcoming dis reply track. Where's the ethical journalism in that?
It's a crying shame that someone like Farrakhan, Sharpton, Jackson or even Russell Simmons couldn't get them all into one room together and make those young men realise that they were being manipulated by greedy, headline driven press parasites who cared only for profits and the next great story, no matter the cost.
Jones and his business partner, David Salzman were sued in a wrongful death suit by the family of a man over irresponsibility which led to his murder after appearing on a talk show they produced. They're extremely lucky that the Shakur and Wallace families haven't gone after them too.
