Interesting flick only one problem

OUT OF ALL THE BLACK ACTORS IN THE WHOLE WORLD THAT IS WHO THEY PICK TO PLAY TUPAC!??!

reply

i don't imagine it would be an easy task to cast tupac's role:

1. actor must be within the age range of the actor portraying biggie
2. actor must be charming
3. actor must look appealing with a bald head
4. actor must partially resemble pac

with all things considered, they could have done a lot worse than anthony mackie (who is a fine actor in his own right)

Johnny Depp is versatile, he could have played Pac.

Anthony Mackie is not that bad. He is not "Pac" but he did okay.

IT WAS THE MOST REALISTIC PORTRAYAL OF 2PAC, EVER!

Anthony Mackie is awesome in The Hurt Locker, very good in 8 Mile, etc. He is a very good actor.

He wasn't very good as Tupac, and I don't know who is to blame. Sure Tupac is tough to capture, but I think Mackie himself could have done better with the role.

i blame the script...

Tupac had very little time in this movie so what did it matter anyways?

reply

Though his time in the movie was brief, it still matters as far as accuracy. If a story is going to be told, you owe it to an audience (that more than likely contains fans of Tupac) to be on point and accurate, a true accounting of the story. Anything less borders on disrespect. Doesn't matter how long or how brief camera time is.

reply

Given true films never tend to be true and as Tupac is dead, its even less likely you will get a true portrayal of the character.

Its that man again!!

reply

Well who would you suggest?

Take some Flinstones vitamins and grow the fvck up!

reply

Nothing against Anthony Mackie, he can act, but it's not as if it was a dramatic role with much screen time that needed that talent. I'm all for Mackie getting roles, but he was wasted in this film.

They should have gone with someone who at least resembled, sounded like or had Pac's mannerisms rather than just shave an actor's head .

There are more than enough look-alikes and impersonators like that guy who make a living from "being" Pac, so it's not as if they couldn't recite a few lines on screen. They would have cost less than Mackie too.

A small-framed black guy with a shaved head and an ability to lipsync Tupac songs?

reply

Thats what I thought to, to be honest I didn't think he looked a lot like him on a first glance. But after a while I thought he wasn't too bad...
