Is this one of the worst US policies in the Middle East?

Besides the Iranian overthrow and backing the Saudi Royal family. Backing the Mujahedin in Afghanistan and the overthrow of Iran's elected government are two of the biggest disaster of CIA blowback and main contributor to international terrorism.Ron Paul was the only one that brought up how horrible US foreign policy is and how much Americans and people around the world are paying for it.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

Besides not being in the Middle East?

And for some broader perspective....When you refer to horrible US foreign policy....You picked random ones out of a long history.....So lets look at them.

Yes, the US overthrew Iran's democratically elected leader....um...but this was 1953.....so if that's the era youre going to discuss....lets include winning WWII, rebuilding Japan and Germany. Certainly the Iran coup was stupid...but it wasn't the overthrow which was the issue...it was supporting the shah for so many years when he abused his people.....We should have played it differently....but 1953 and 1979 although related are different stories.

Supporting Saudi Arabia? what's your other plan for the middle east? We could push for the overthrow of the Saudi royal family....but what's your plan for what comes next? Not as if there was a good plan for what came next in Iraq.

its so easy to say do this...don't do that when it comes to international policy. And we carry that burden every day and get it wrong plenty of times. What I'd like to see is some of the other world powers actually take some responsibility....If you rely solely on the US....you'll get solely our policy good or bad.
