Right or wrong ? The principal was correct

What I get from this story is that ultimately arming the Mujahideen in Afghanistan during the war with Russia was a great idea and victory for all involved and for the world.
Like Charlie Wilson said "these things happened. They were glorious and they changed the world... and then we fu**ed up the end game".. This is what we do in America all to often and that is we did the right thing but in the end the people of Afghanistan didn't know we were doing this, especially the young kids who now fight the USA there. They saw there family's murdered and villages wiped out.
If we just put money into rebuilding and helping them get back and were forthcoming about it history may have been totally changed and maybe we are t in the mess we are in for the last 13 years over there.
So NO in the end arming these people who are today total savages and our mortal enemies should not have been given the means to fight the Russians because we in the USA did not finish what we started which was a very ingenious idea that turned out horribly 10 years later for us.
Such a great film and right at the correct moment to be put out to most that did not know we may have been able to prevent the mess we are now in today. Then again who knows how history plays out but it is definitely a head scratcher

THERES NO ROOM IN MY CIRCUS TENT FOR YY !!!!

This is all too often how history plays out. After all, the Stalinist Soviet monster was given massive aid in order to defeat the Nazi monster.

Don't forget the lesson from the old zen master. It's impossible to know how events will play out and we shouldn't make judgement calls too early. For all we know, these events could bring about world peace, which for all we know could be the worst thing to happen to humanity. Or not. What's bad is not always bad and what's good is not always good.

We tend to learn our lessons from the last conflict we were in. Think about the second Afghan war under President Bush. This time we removed the Taliban and committed hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuild Afghanistan. Over the course of the next couple of years the Taliban and Al Qaeda targeted those construction workers through IED's and kidnappings. Sometimes, there is no right answer.
