This movie became available on HBO on demand recently and when I mentioned it to my kids they both jumped for joy and begged me to play it. 20 minutes later they were begging me to stop it and let them go play in their rooms. To my surprise I too lost interest in the movie so I stopped it to watch something else. Did anyone else's kid(s) react the same way?
How I rate movies: 5 stars=F,6 stars=D,7 stars=C,8 stars=B,9 stars=A.1-4 stars are very bad.
I don't have kids, but I have a 7 year old brother. We rented it not realizing it was pg-13 and when we turned it on he loved it, when we brought it back to the rental place he would not stop talking about 9, so we bought it for him and he has been watching it every night before bed. He loves it to death.
Don't forget this movie has been rated PG-13. I'm not saying little kids cannot enjoy it, just stating that "9" is not a kiddie-oriented movie. Unlike Japan or Europe, in the states "most people" still shares this misconception on animated=kiddie flicks. Obviously that's not the case of "9".
Well being a fan of animated movies such as "Heavy Metal" and "South Park" I can tell you that I have no misconceptions on all animated movies being kiddie flicks. But this particular movie didn't scream out "Adults only" either. PG-13 is becoming a standard rating nowadays for films aimed at kids, take Transformers or G.I. Joe for instance. Both these movies had my young son very excited about watching and in the case of Transformers he wanted to see the whole thing. (G.I. Joe not so much) 9 however somehow managed to look cute enough to lure them in but once they were in it lost it's charm.

lol Transformers or G.I. Joe i couldn't site through them unless i was payed or forced.. 9 however was a real treat, But being a small budget independent movie it wont follow the rules of normal 'kiddie' films.. i guess it requires a certain pallet to appreciate, enjoy and understand.
