Wouldn't destroying the machine (as 1 was prepared to do) accomplish the same as unlocking the talisman? Ie, the souls would just float out of the smashed machine, right?
The nine little bug-dolls were so grotesque and unrelateable-to (is that a word?) that I felt no reason to care for them. The dialogue and character development were paper thin, and all the good parts were ripped off from other films.
One of the most useless sci-fi movies ever made.
Some weird cross between "Terminator", "Battlestar Galactica (not the original series)", "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" and "Wall-E". Thankfully it was only one hour, twelve minutes before the credits.
I enjoy sci-fi, I like war films, I don't mind apocalyptic films. I just have no idea what the purpose of this film is. Nazis were bad? We already know that. The world is being taken over by machines? Ok, not exactly an original plot device. Mixing futuristic technologies and industrial revolution ironware? Always stupid but there seems to be a movie out every few years with that plot device.
Oh, I get it - humans are inherently evil and it's best to transfer human souls to robots/puppets/dolls because only that way will the world survive.

Pretty much all films are pointless and useless.. i mean we don't need them we just enjoy them. Unless you can name me one that was pointless?? And i don't believe any story is original anymore.. (like music it's all been done and told theres nothing new left)
