A few questions (spoilers)

1. Why did the machine want the souls of the dolls?

2. Why was there only one "beast" left in the beginning. Didnt it seem as if the machines had won the war?

3. Why was the main machine turned off? Did it turn itself off? Did someone turn it off? If so, doesnt that mean that it was defeated?

4. If the circular thing was so dangerous, why did the scientist leave it for 9 to find?

5. 9 said that 1 knew something, usually when that happens in a movie, it is revealed later on what the character knew. So what did 1 know?

6. Why did 9 come to life after all the other dolls?

7. When the machine fell off the bridge, the doll that it was holding told them to go back to room 1. How did he know that, had he know it all along? If so, why didnt he go back to that room earlier?

8. 9 knew exactly what to do after seeing the scientists hologram, even though it was a very vague explanation. How did he know?

9. 9 was against destroying the machine before releasing the souls. Why didnt he think that destroying the machine would release them? How did he come to the conclusion that destroying the machine was dangerous to the souls?

10. Did the scientist know that in order to make rain, his little round thing would need the souls of his creations? Did he create them to be sacrificed? So does that mean that he predicted that 9 would find the thingy, inadvertently awaken the machine, then the machine would take a few souls and then 9 would figure out how to defeat and retrieve the souls? Was he psychic?

1. Because their souls were of Human life.
2. I think the cat was built by the machine to find the tailsman.
3. Someone got the tailsman of the machine, then gave it to the scientist, then died in a battle with the walkers.
4. Because it was the only way to restore true life (cells, bacteria) to the planet
5. 1 knew that some of the ragdolls had to die to save life, so he rebelled and hid this truth from the others, thats why he shut 6 up, and tried to silence 9 and 2. It's in the script, but was for some reason cut out of the film.
6. I don't know, maybe something to do with how weak the scientist was at this point.
7. 6 had visions that drove him to insanity and because he was kept shut up by 1
8. Because he possibly just knew, he was created by it after all.
9. Because killing the machine before releasing the souls would kill them forever, and if they destroyed the tailsman they would destroy the souls as well.

10. Yes, he just had hope, which if you think about it, is the moral of the movie, there's a little deleted scene in where the twins find the hologram projecter/mirror had the words HOPE engraved on it.

"1. Because their souls were of Human life."

So the machine was powered on souls?

"2. I think the cat was built by the machine to find the tailsman"

But how can that be if the machine was off?

"7. 6 had visions that drove him to insanity and because he was kept shut up by 1"

Did this happen in the movie? I must of missed it.

"8. Because he possibly just knew, he was created by it after all."

That was one of my complaints about the movie, the dolls would magically just know things.

"9. Because killing the machine before releasing the souls would kill them forever, and if they destroyed the tailsman they would destroy the souls as well."

Right, but how did 9 know that?

It wasnt a terrible movie it just seemed rushed to me, I don't think a 2 hour movie did it justice. I think a series with more character and story development would be awesome.

Well they would have known things.. they were parts of the professors soul.
9 put thetalismann in the wrong way and woke up themachinee who when on a killing spree... IF 9 had gotten his message first he would have been able to use the machine to clean up the plant and restore life.. or use it to destroy any other machines that are still around... Or something.

While it wasn't 100% the dvd audio commentary clears it up. lol
