I just started watching 9 again, and I noticed that you can see the Chancellor's corpse in the film. It's just before 9 meets 2 when hides from 2's searchlight, you can see a man's body and it wears the Chancellor's red sash. Looks like the jerk got gunned down.

shareOriginally he was supposed to be in the same room as the dead scientist I believe. I've seen a concept painting showing the scientist with a knife in his back and the dictator lying beside him with a quill pen in his eye; they were originally supposed to have simultaneously killed each other.

How can they simultaneously kill each other if one was stabbed in the back? Wouldn’t that be rather difficult?
shareDue to the pose they're shown in, it seems the dictator took the pen in the eye and then with his dying act stabbed the scientist, who was in the midst of turning away, in the back.

Dude 2: Ow! *turns around - stabs Dude 1 in the eye*
Dude 1: Agh! *dies*
Dude 2: Gah! *dies*
