Wouldn't the end have been better if....

this is just my opinion. but as the scientist has said that 9 parts of his soul are in the 9 dolls, wouldn't all 9 have to die/ sacrifice themselves for the greater good of restoring humanity, cause even though some of them were freed and then made it rain which will restore life on earth, some pieces of the scientist's soul are still remaining in the other four. I would have thought the 9 different pieces of his soul would've had 9 different "personalities" or different parts and only as a whole would it be completed to restore life on earth. OH well. Still good though.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Each one inherited a different portion of the 'soul', which means they each represent different aspects of his character.

I agree OP. I was waiting for them to sacrifice themselves to the machine, thus "completing" the design, and all the drama that would ensue to make everyone believe in number 9's "crazy" words. That would've made it a cult classic film bar none. But oh well.

I actually thought that was what they were going for. that the machine that the Scientist built caused all this destruction so he created a plan for the 9 puppets to give each part of his soul to the creature to turn it into something positive and rebuild the world.

I agree. At the very least, 9 should have died, too, for all the problems he caused.
