so through out the movie we see that it must not be that long after the war because bodies of the humans were not decayed the scientists body for instance so what if when the bacteria that rains down on earth it slowly over the course of months revives and Reanimates a lot of the people who died

If the gas was toxic to all living things then bodies would not decompose.
