Voices Were The Only Let Down

Did anyone else think that the only thing really holding this film back from completing it's gloomy, post-apocalyptic atmosphere was the voice acting. Or, more accurately the voices used. I thought that it was really the wrong type of film to use the type of youthful american boy/teenager accent found in so many disney/pixar films (for the main character), and that the characters in general just seemed somehow... wrong. It works ok for others, but here I felt that it really ruined the film to some extent, at least in terms of what it could have been.

I was initially disappointed to hear that voices were being used in the film, as the original short film it was based on featured only body language, which in my opinion only served to enhance the primitive cave-man world the earth has become. It also makes the dolls seem less human, though still sympathetic. The ending to the short film was also a lot more emotionally affecting for me.

"Tahiti is not in Europe . . . I'm going to be SICK."

The sound mixing in this movie was so incredibly horrible in that the sound effects were intensely loud compared to the volume of the spoken voices so I never got a chance to tell if the voices were good or bad. I never heard the characters voices.
