The Writing
In this mini series is phenomenal. Did the writers actually quote from the writings of adams and Jefferson etc?For a procedural dramatic show the writing was throught provoking, philosophical, and tense. Dare I say, masterpiece?

Yes, a lot of the dialogue is taken direct from contemporary sources and writings by the original people. The somewhat weird scene of John Adams meeting George III is almost a transcript of a letter Adams wrote describing the momentous event. It's a great show!
