Best damn miniseries I have seen in my life!!!!

Does anyone here agree :)

I agree. I watched the first part tonight and I had to keep rewinding it and watching certain scenes over and over again because I cannot believe how what is happening today is so similar that it's frightening. The end of the first part is pretty emotional when they are reading the Declaration of Independence. At the very end when Adams looks into the camera it's as if he's talking to us from the grave.

Yes, it's one of the best cinematic depictions of American history I have ever seen. I truly love the Declaration of Independence episode. Also in other episodes I enjoy the discussions between Adams and Jefferson over the future of America. The inauguration of Washington is truly wonderful and the scene where they play 'Hail, Columbia' is great. I also love Adams leaving the White House in the early gray dawn after his defeat and the miniseries has one of the best codas I have seen with Adams final words ringing through the ages. Really good stuff- all of it. Hope they eventually make '1776'.

Frank: Just a man.
Harmonica: An ancient race.

I'd rank it lower than From the Earth to the Moon or Band of Brothers. Has a good beginning and end, but the pace is off in the middle episodes.

After reading McCullough I would highly recommend going on to read the works on John Adams by John Ferling and Page Smith. They are highly excellent too and show that Adams had been treated well by 20th century historians even before McCullough's book.

Joseph Ellis also has a few books on Adams that are worth checking out.

I watched the whole series a second time, right away, and I never do that. I think it's my favorite mini-series of all time.

While good, Band of Brothers and Generation Kill are both better than John Adams.

I got the series as a Christmas gift and I couldn't stop watching once I started. It's absolutely superb and it certainly ranks high on my list of favourites.

Same here.

Its certainly one of the finest I have seen. I'll put up there with the Horatio Hornblower series about a young officer in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars.

Its a very good miniseries, and I would probably put it in a top 5 with Masada, Holocaust, Brideshead revisted, and I Claudius (which just left no room for Band of Brothers, The Thorn Birds, Shogun, Edward and Mrs Simpson, The 6 wives of Henry VIII, Elizabeth R....its darn difficult picking)
