Confusion about dates

I thoroughly enjoyed this mini-series and thought it was well produced and acted. I was disappointed, however, by the lack of dates throughout the episodes. I know my basic Revolutionary-era history but it was hard to tell how much time had elapsed between episodes, sometimes between scenes. Only through some well-known events could I update my thinking on what month/year it was; examples may be the end of the war or the election of Washington, etc.

I feel the production would be greatly enhanced with the addition of dates throughout, in order to orient the viewer to the passage of time. This would be especially helpful to illustrate how much longer many things took in those days, such as crossing the Atlantic or tallying electoral votes.
