Actually you did. That represented how long they were separated from each other unable to do what married couples do and unlike half of Adams colleagues, he stood faithful. That was the reward. That's how I saw it anyway.

I think it's important to have moments like that in film because it humanizes the Founders, reminds us that they were not semi-divine figures as people today often see them, what with the way they are immortalized in marble and bronze and on our currency. They were still human beings.
