MY only complaint about Giamatti's performance

OK, so this is just my opinion, feel free to disagree and please express why if so, I'm open for any opinions.

It could be because of how Adams actually spoke, but I felt the only problem I had with Giamatti's performance was how softly he spoke and how often he mumbled. Then again, it could have also been the fake teeth hindering his speech, but I noted this earlier too. If it was how Adams spoke, then fine, but I had to turn my television volume up a bit only when Adams spoke (minus when he raised his voice in passion). He just seemed to whisper half of the time.

That's how Giamatti talks when he uses a british accent, see him him in The Illusionist or The Last Station, it's almost the same.

Exactly. I enjoyed the series and thought Giamatti did a competent job as Adams, but I found his constant whispering broken by occasional fits of shouting to be a little wearing. At least he didn't shout that he wasn't going to drink any stinking Merlot!

LOL! Thanks.

I agree completely. I was also wondering if there was historical reason for this. Makes Adams seem like a conniving political animal. And maybe he was.

Perhaps, like the teeth makeup (decaying more and more as Adams ages), we're to get the impression that this is an historical protrayal, warts and all.
