No . . . just, no.

When "The Next Generation" was first announced, some people predicted that it would be awkward or creepy. There were many performances yesterday to prove that they wouldn't ALL be that way. The contemporary dances were heartbreakingly beautiful. All of the hip hop routines were high-energy show stoppers.

Unfortunately the Latin dancing seemed to fulfill those early predictions. There's no question that Jake is a talented kid. There's no doubt in my mind that if Generaux had prepared a solo routine for him, it would have been great. Unfortunately, the huge height difference between Jake and Jenna made their routine look incredibly clumsy, even though they didn't mess up any of the choreography. She should have gone with the taller kid (I forget his name).

I also thought that Paul and Ruby's dance was, not awkward, but a bit creepy. I mean, she's only 13.

"You two ought to be ashamed of yourselves . . . two grown men acting like . . . grown men!!!"

I felt the exact same way. The male/female adult/kid ballroom dancing is impossible to create or perform without it looking creepy. Ballroom style dancing is mature, requires close partner work, and needs "chemistry."

I thought the choreographers did an amazing job with these strange combos of dancers. Those choreographers are magicians, the routines were entertaining and most of the time age appropriate. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

I actually can appreciate Jake's performances BECAUSE the size and age difference is so pronounced and obvious. It doesn't come across as awkward or inappropriate (least to me). Even when it's a sexualized or provocative move it just seems a little amusing. Jake is also a "ham", so his goofiness helps to reinforce that.

I have a harder time with Paul and Ruby, because she is as tall as him, or close to it. My brain knows how young she is, but visually it's not immediately obvious (she also looks older than 13 to me), so it just comes across as a little skeezy. Honestly that's the only partnership that makes me feel that way.

Only uptight filthy minded ass holes like you think about that shet. Dance is art and art is subjective . Needless to say, it's all good performances to me.
