Chinese New Year?

I'm no expert and I've never celebrated Chinese New Year in my life, but I am almost 100% sure that it never occurs or never has ever occurred in November. In the film, flowers are given to an Asian woman to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This occurs only a few days before the Thanksgiving Day Parade, suggesting that the Chinese New Year is in November. Am I wrong on this, or did the film just completely eff this up?

good detective work trey. I thought the same thing when I saw in other scenes people not wearing jackets.

It's way more than a few days. The movie starts out with Alan Alda swimming in an outdoor pool, 2000 feet in the air in New York. I think this movie spans at least a couple months.
