if the towers had gone down straight away...
thered have been about 10-15k dead
usually the towers had 50k working in them. but it was early so there was about 18k in them according to reports (around 15k were evac'd). so tower 1 is hit goes down straight away then thatve be about 8-10k dead (no jumpers, no emergency workers) then tower 2 wouldve been evacd immediately but they wouldnt have got everyone out before it was hit about 50 minutes later (they weren't expecting it) and goes down straight away maybe about 3-5k dead
i guess thats what AQ was hoping that the towers would go straight away and thered be tens of thousands dead (if the planes had hit an hour or so later and had the towers gone straight away there couldve been as high as 50k+ dead. or if it had been as it was with the towers going down about an hour after being hit but later in the day then its estimated the death toll wouldve been 20-30k as the towers wouldve been full, visitors, tourists etc)
so its shocking to think that 3k dead is probably around the least number it couldve been (obviously it coudve been way less if everyone had been evacd out the towers straight away etc)
of course if the towers had held and not fallen then everyone below the impacts couldve been evac'd out over the course of a few hours and the firemen wouldve been battling the fires and to save those above.. (then the death toll wouldve just been those in and above the impact zones and the planes. But some mightve been rescued and therd have been few firemen deaths)
anyway i been watching some of the docs on tv in the build up to the 20th and got me thinking about how much worse it couldve been that day.. it all just feels so random π
