Seriously, though. I've been waiting since January of 2008 to see if a movie could top There Will Be Blood. So far...nope.

I've seen approximately 100 movies that have been released between 2008 and 2014, including the likes of:

Lincoln
The Hobbit (both of them)
American Hustle
12 Years a Slave
Prisoners
The King's Speech
Moonrise Kingdom
True Grit
Dallas Buyers Club
Zero Dark Thirty
Black Swan
Captain Phillips
The Master
Shutter Island
Gravity
Django Unchained
Nebraska
127 Hours
The Help
Inception
Melancholia
The Tree of Life
Avatar
Zombieland
Inglourious Basterds
District 9
The Hurt Locker
Moon
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
Doubt
Milk
Changeling
Hunger
A Serious Man
Burn After Reading
Waltz with Bashir
The Dark Knight
Let the Right One In

All fine films. But none of them even come close to TWBB.

Now there have been several movies from before There Will Be Blood that are better (21 to be exact).

After, however, has been another story.

It is indeed the current masterpiece that has yet to be matched. The bar for epic film has been reset with TWBB... Good luck!

The Revenant (2015) almost surpassed it. Maybe even on the same level as it.

I'm just re-watching this and was thinking much the same thing.

Some of these films on that list are excellent but this tops them.
