Genital Herpes?

During his audition the casting lady mentioned she had actually thought he really had it. I think that was implied intentionally by the director. Which kinda explains why he always cries when he gets intimate. Because he's destined to "live the rest of his alone because of one drunken night..."? When asked he said no but then he gave a weird kinda smirk.

he cried cause he felt like his life was empty.

He cries because of intimacy problems with women which started when his mother died.

The "one drunken night" refers to his father's alcoholism which he blames for his mother's death.

In the last half of the movie he says he talks to his mother at nights. That's when he cries.
