This movie was way too long, good lord.

They could have easily trimmed it down to 90 minutes....Harvey Dent didn’t need to be in the movie, Batman going to China was a waste of time, Bruce Wayne doesn’t need a love interest, Commissioner Gordon adds nothing to the movie, and The Joker didn’t need to lecture people for 30 minutes of the run time. You take most of this out and trim down a few more things and you get a perfect 90 minute film. Why couldn’t Nolan do this?

I agree that Harvey Dent didn't need to be in the movie. Cut all his scenes and the plot doesn't change a bit. Who cares about a politician that become a criminal anyway? We already have plenty of them IRL. Not interesting at all.

A big point the movie makes is that even someone like Harvey(Idealistic, honest, dedicated to his work and a good man in general) could be corrupted. So how is it that he did not need to be in the movie?

Got to agree with Armadillo, what happened to HD was kinda the point of the film.
