Mark knew EXACTLY what he was doing

I don't buy the idea that he was just a bored and unfulfilled husband who met a really cool and interesting girl and got carried away. You can see in the slow dancing scene that he puts his lips on Juno's head right before he tells her he is leaving his wife. He knew from the moment they starting clicking and she was coming over unannounced that he wanted to get in her pants.

Yeah, Mark's a jerk.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious that he was having relationship troubles with Jennifer Garner.

They obviously weren't hurting for money, but both had different places that they wanted to be. Juno's mom was right though, Juno never should have just gone over unannounced like that.

This exactly. Idk if anyone knows, but there's a deleted scene after everything happens in the movie and he is again trying to date a younger girl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJRJ7uQEGCI

I was going to come on to this post and argue that I didn't think Mark was into Juno "that way," but as I re-watched the basement scene with the two of them it is clear that he is feeling something. He is legitimately shocked by Juno's reaction to him leaving Vanessa, and expects that she would have been cool with it because she is into him. As she is ranting at him and he is sitting with his head almost in his hands commenting "I was so stupid" and "you're so young", its clear that he had thought she could have been something to lean on after leaving Vanessa, and she clearly is railing against that. I think he lets go of any romantic inclinations to her in that basement and in the follow up convo with Vanessa, but I can definitely see that something WAS there.

While Vanessa was pushing for a baby pretty hard and might have assumed it would fix all their marital issues, it's clear that Mark had been feeling that way for a while and was just waiting for a moment to ditch her. He was such an ass.
