The color red in this film

Not sure if its been mentioned but did anyone notice the use of the color red in this film? The lone red balloon at the zoo, red scooter, watering can and red flowers hanging in the home when his mother falls, his mother's red robe in the dream/vision, the bright ted apple in front of Damien as he's making a sandwich, the priest seeing the person on red running; at first I thought it was a coincidence but Damien was on screen with the color red constantly, just thought that was interesting that all the other colors almost seemed to be purposely bland so that when the color red was present it would stand out.

According to the trivia section:

Throughout the movie, director John Moore uses the color red to signal a supernatural event, much like 'M. Knight Shyamalan' (although more proliferative) in The Sixth Sense.

Maybe in the Behind the scenes Dvd extra it´s mentioned.

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

It's not to signal a 'supernatural' events at all. It's to highlight danger/warning, as the colour red is often used. Kind of like...like an OMEN!

Come on, it was hardly subtle was it?
It starts with Damien's birth as his crib is the only one that is red...it was a warning...an OMEN.

Jesus died for our sins. As he's already dead...sin away.

Yep the red color was definitely meant to signify evil. It showed up kind of bright and vivid in most spots(Damien's crib, Kate's robe, and the flowers when seen in the hospital room when Mrs. Baylock visits)but also it was there in a more subtle way if that makes sense. One example of the latter was Damien's shirt at his birthday party. Actually I'm going to go off topic for a second but I noticed something in the scene where Robert goes and meets the priest in Bishop's Park. At one point when Robert is walking up to approach the priest in the corner you can see a very small fire burning. You can't see a person actually standing there but it looks like one of those fires that homeless people at times have started in trash cans to keep warm. Anyway I never noticed that before and I think it adds a little more weirdness to that scene. That park scene was actually a well done scene. All those little noises(like the wailing and screeching of the damned)were cool. In some ways it was better than the park scene in the original. What was also creepy was that shadowy figure that runs past him extremely quick as he is racing to the church.

The scary clown doll is hiding under my bed.

It looks very striking and haunting in the movie. It also distinguishes this movie from the original on a visual level, the original was filled with more blacks and greys. The theme even carried over to the marketing, many of the one sheets that appeared in theaters were red, and the trailer features the colour pretty heavily too.
