awful/waste of time remake of a fairly decent 70s horror film. over-produced, laughable lighting/effects/make-up, over-acted---BUT I do love Liev and thought he did his best with a putrid production. The kid was miscast....and every scene was lit like a 90s music video...The scene with the old priest and his alien face was laughable....I was also puzzled as to why the line "his mother was a jackal" was kept in despite the 'surprise' at the end of the pic, where they look into the grave of the mother and find a canine skeleton...Did anyone else notice that the castle was furnished w/IKEA furnishings?? One of the worst remakes ever. How does a guy like this, with so little creativity/talent, get to direct a $40million picture???

I think the weakest element of the remake was the nanny & hound from hell duo. It's so effective in the original. In this one, the poochie is merely cute and while the murder scene at the hospital was well done and acted, I think the nanny could have been much chillier.

Pretty much agree with you guys. It's literally like watching someone with no talent remake a well made movie, it makes you cringe. It's just a recipe for disaster from the start. The original is a classic because it's made with such skill and enthusiasm, this was lackluster from the start and not even worth watching...
