Carbon copy duplicate remakes are a terrible idea

That's one of the top top essential rules of how to make a good horror movie remake on number 7 is "No carbon copies". Some movies just don't need improving and if a filmmaker's plan of attack is to do a shot to shot wor by word duplicate of a successful film then don't be surprised when they failed miserably, if we wanted to see the original we'd watch it plain and simple.

Worst culprits are this and Psycho (1998).

I agree with you totally. I personally did not understand what was the point of making this film in the first place. It was just a (as you correctly put it) "Carbon Copy" of the original. The original had a very scary and eerie atmosphere and look which this one seriously lacked. The original was a classic and if filmamkers are bold enough to tackle a classic and remake it, then they should atleast try to add their own touch to it and bring some variety. A simple "copy and paste" is just a waste of money. The only logical reason I can think of for such miserable remakes is that the filmmakers are trying to target the younger generations who perhaps have not watched the original.
