Of all the remakes of the classic films this one i think is the best not a shot for shot remake but keeps the overall story intact. Plus the effects are expertly done and the film has a decent enough script. Didnt think a lot of it at first but i will say it has grown on me in recent years. Still prefer the original for overall scariness but this is definitely a worthy remake effort.

shareI just watched this again for the first time in a few years. It's really not a bad remake at all. I loved the original, which is in my top 5 all-time favorite horror movies, and I thought this remake was pretty good.
My main issue that I had with this one was the casting...I don't think that Liev and Julia are bad actors, but I felt that they were very miscast. I felt that they were far too young to be in that position of political power, but that's just me.
The minor story changes weren't bothersome to me at all, and in fact I think it shows how perfect the original was in that they had to make so few changes for the 2006 version.
As far as remakes go, I really have no issues with them as long as the original is still out there for me to see. If anything, remakes will introduce newer audiences to the originals out of curiosity, and they may see a fantastic movie that they had overlooked due to its age.

Well i too dont know why you would make a scene for scene virtual remake. Like Psycho a few years ago. It was good but not worth seeing again. Plus Schrieber was okay but the wife was horrible.
