I think I can answer your question regarding the first 3. First of all the first nanny was simply in the way and Damian needed a nanny that was satanic to protect and guide him. The first nanny had to be removed. I imagine a different force could have been used to just make her get up and leave but of course possessing her to commit suicide is a lot more fun when you are evil. Katherine was to much trouble since she was suspecting there was something wrong with Damian. Also I would guess the evil nanny wanted to completely take her place as the care giver of Damian and Damian was starting to hate his mom probably from a combination of that he was a evil brat and the fact that she was getting annoyed with him. Eventually like the father she would have needed to be removed but certain circumstances made it happen sooner. As far as Jennings I think there are two reasons when you think about it. He was helping Thorn discover the truth and of course that makes Satan angry. Or..... his death was the final incident to push Thorn into action. When Thorn at one point denies what has been told him and refuses to do the deed he needed to see what his refusal to believe would cause to happen and continue to happen. Kind of like someone was saying to him. "your denial has caused the sacrific of your wife and now you have caused the sacrifice of another one close to you in order for you to see the truth" I wonder and think that if Thorn had agreed with Jennings right after seeing Buggenhagan then Jennings might not have died.
