Best film of all time? Yes.

Ever since this film came out, I have obsessively loved it. Obsessively. It was the best movie theater experience of my life, and I know that I won't have a better theater experience EVER...it would be impossible. I'm glad that the critics understood the film because it was quite overlooked and underrated.

Not only is this film overwhelmingly fun and unbelievably entertaining, but it seems to do everything perfectly without even trying. The characters are so likeable. The storyline is so fun. The death scenes are creative and gruesome (without being totally disturbing). It has the perfect balance between horror and comedy. It doesn't take itself seriously but doesn't go over-the-top with the comedy (like the sequel did, which fell into spoof territory). Another underrated element of the film is the cinematography. Lake Havasu is so beautiful, and the rocks and blue/green/clear water is so pleasing to the eye. I just want to jump into the screen. The setting is just so perfect. Everything is perfect. The tone, the music, the characters, the setting, the story, the direction, the deaths, the look of the piranha. I even loved the plotholes. I love it so much.

I'm so, so glad you love it so much. it's definitely the best horror film of the year. but I didn't get into it until about 30 minutes in. I still thought it was such a blast. it was scary, disturbing, and relentless with it's terror and menace of the piranhas. it's amazing what they accomplished with it, how they made it so entertaining and so suspenseful and such non stop entertaining about 30 minutes into it. they somehow created a perfect balance of scary and funny, silly. man, oh man, from the time when the piranhas start attacking people until the end of it it keeps up this dizzying, disorienting, and hysteria which is unmatched by any other film. I have watched hundreds of horro r movies and none of them have the frantic energy and amazing hysteria and dread and emotions in that way in a creature attacking people idea.

It very well could be! Well... probably not but it's a lot of fun in any case.
