Goof: Accused store shooter going to trial
Maybe its because I watch too much Forensic Files, but the accused black teenager at the convience store would have had the charges dropped early on, unless he confessed. Assuming that he told the cops he did not shoot the Asian guy, the cops would have tested his jacket (which he was still wearing when arrested) for gun powder residue, found none, and dropped the charges....Also, when watching the scene again, it actually gets even more ridiculous. The hispanic guy was a terrible shot. Seems like when the guy ducked away, he would have tried to shoot him as he was running and not keep shooting directly into the store. He could have accidently shot the hispanic girl he came with. Why would he even shoot the guy in front of the store in the first place??? He could have laid back, followed him, and shot him. It is also likely that the cops found no gun on the accused suspect (he did not try to return fire), and if they did, ballistics would probably not have matched the slugs in the store. It also looks as if the accused got a good look at his shooter (who also happened to be in the courtroom NEAR THE DEFENDANT) which I am sure he would have pointed out to the police and his lawyer. A simple investigation into it would have tied all the pieces together especially with the racial fight at the school, asking the hispanic chic how she got to the store, locating and questioning the real shooter, etc. It still all boils down to the lack of gun residue on the jacket though.
