Autobiography

An interesting companion to this film is Albert Pierrepoint’s autobiography “ Executioner Pierrepoint. Whilst there are many differences between book and film, in particular Albert’s relationship with Tish (The film makers seem to have used dramatic license in this part of the screenplay) both portray a man highly skilled at his job even if it is killing for the state.

I just wonder if anyone else has read the book recently. What did they think of the film and Timothy Spall’s performance. I thought both were excellent.

The book was quite interesting. In particular when Albert and his Uncle travelled to Ireland carrying loaded guns for protection. I came away thinking that he was a truly remarkable, very private and compassionate man.

There's a really good audio interview with Albert Pierrepoint on the BBC's website. It's about 30 mins long and you need real player to listen to it.

I'm an avid true crime reader with a collection of over 600 books but this was def not one of my faves i think that was because it was not the sort of book i expected really not becasue it wasn't well written if that makes sense??
As for the film, i thought Spall played the part brilliantly and have watched it a few times

Well it's only the beginning baby L.A. in the summer anything could happen right?
