The Strugglers
Does the pub that Albert owned still stand? I was wondering if it had become a landmark of sorts or a site of macabre interest.

That's a great idea Allen, thanks. As a real ale fan I should have thought of that myself!

I'm pretty sure it's been demolished.
shareGuess it's gone:

Those are some of the actual public houses in Oldham..
"Help The Poor Struggler" was a site of macabre interest during the time when Pierrepoint run the place. But "he rigorously denied discussing his craft with any member of the public" (as quoted in his bio). And there was also never a notice on the counter reading "No hanging about this bar".. He did run another public house later "The Rose and Crown" at Hoole/Preston; he never had a restaurant called "The Last Drop".
Good work there 6167. The "no hanging about this bar" sign does sound like one of those things that starts off as someone's joke then becomes a rumour and finally, an accepted fact.
shareI have heard loads of people say that sign was there when they had seen the film, but i always thought that it was a rumour that just got out of hand and was prob a funny thing to a lot of people
Well it's only the beginning baby L.A. in the summer anything could happen right?
The Rose and Crown pub in Much Hoole near Preston is now an Bengali restaurant called Banglafusion
