i was just wondering two things, is the pub pierrpoint ran still open(is there a new pub there or was it all knocked down) and where is pierrepoint buried, i searched the net but could find out nothing thanks

shareLaura There is a book coming out on 1st October called a Very English Hangman by Leonora Klein about the life of Pierepoint in it she says Pierepoint died on 10th July 1992 at the Melvin Nursing Home he was 87 His death certificate shows Bronchopneumonia and Alzeimers disease his occupation given as Publican retired The matronPatricia Wynne said he had died peacefully and he was always a perfect gentlemaHis death was front page in the Southport visitor paper with heading of Peaceful end for the man of death The funeral was held at Southport cremotorium the hearse was accomponied by police outriders and cemetary gates were locked to keep out television and press his ashes were scattered in the memorial gardens His wife Anne died 5 years later
