Excellent Movie

I finally saw "The Last Hangman" tonite. It was an excellent film, disturbing, but excellent. It is interesting that Hastings Music lists it as "Pierrepoint", not "The Last Hangman".

PIERREPOINT was the original UK title.

As regards your tag

"Q:People kill for Allah, I bet they'll be pissed when they find out he doesn't exist.Q"

People kill for a remarkable number of reasons. They very rarely make any sense at all. What is "democracy" for example? The Democratic/Republican alliance? What is "freedom" to a black man who is repeatedly searched for drugs in the street because he is black? I think you should perhaps remove the plank from your own eye before dealing with the splinter in anyone else's.

PIERREPOINT was the original UK title.

And also the current UK title. Americans are sometimes happier with things spelled out for them, don't you think?

Americans wouldnt know who Pierrepoint was. In fact had he a common surname eg Smith or Jones, the film title would have been different in the UK.

reply

It was titled "Pierrepoint" when it ran on HBO and it's titled the same on the region 1 DVD.

Sorry if you've been deprived of your desperately needed moment of intellectual and moral superiority.

You do me a disservice. Intellectual superiority is so easy to find on IMDb, desperation is unnecessary. My comment here was an honest one and certainly not intended to disparage Americans. They (you?) really do tend to unambiguously spell things out. In most situations this can only be considered a good thing.

Agreed. Wonderfully done.
