Tish's Crime

Did I miss something? It goes from Tish fighting a guy in the bar over a lady ... certainly not a capital crime... to his execution. His pain and jealousy were certainly clear enough. I assume he murdered the lady or the other guy or both. But were the circumstances explained in this film? I just want to know if I missed something. Thanks if you can clear this up.

He strangled his girlfriend because she wouldn't give up her other boyfriend with who she had two children by.

I wish I had been an extra in any of Natalie Gregory's work.

When Albert is drunkenly breaking down back in the pub after Tish's execution he tells his wife what happened. Tish followed the woman to Liverpool and strangled her in a motel. This also explains why Albert was unaware of what had happened - the trial and conviction would have occured in Liverpool away from Alberts home town.

Yeah, it's sketched out by Albert's assistant on their walk to the holding cell, where Albert will view the prisoner and assess him for the length and strength of rope needed, before Albert knows it's Tish.

The assistant tells him the prisoner had lured some woman to a hotel and strangled her, and didn't even deny doing it. After the Governor tells Albert the prisoner has said he knows him, Albert is putting two and two together.

Really hard sequence to watch, I thought. Beautifully played by Timothy Spall.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
