Not really no...there are films made in Africa with no white people, so what?

reply

quite right too. as a professional black woman i can tell you that we would have moved out of that dysfunctional hell hole immediately. when eddie murphy joked that black people never get killed in horror films he was on to something. we would get the hint.

reply

[deleted]

Huh? The cliche is that black people are the first to get killed.

Nope, why would anyone even care unless you are some kind of racist .. I never pay attention to characters race if it is irrelevant to the plot and NEVER ever make a tally or count of how "diverse" something is or is not..

reply

White wash movie? Of course you wouldn't care. But a person of color would love to see a diverse cast.

Do you know the meaning of racist? I think not.

This movie was awful, BTW.

A lot of anger there buddy. Just making a point, what isn't important to you, matters to people who do not look like you. Now seek help for all that racial anger you have built up inside of you.

I hate to break it to you but you are just as racist buddy...

reply

LMAO, that's too funny! Hate to break it back to you, but you're a f##king moronic tool... then again, you probably already had an inkling of that being the case.

Actually a racist is someone who differentiates or shows bias based on race, this includes both positive and negative bias..

Anyone who makes determinations based on race is quite simply a racist, just as you are making determinations based on race.

I have no such determination and as I said race would only ever come into the equation if it were pertinent to the story. For example, 50 Years a Slave would not look right if there where non black people playing the parts of any of the slaves or there were non Japanese looking people playing the parts of any of the Japanese in Tora Tora Tora.. etc. etc.

It was 1970's Britain, there really weren't as many black people (or indeed, people other than white British) around. I never even considered it while watching.

People are too hung-up on skin colour in movies to realise that diversity is not always historically accurate, or that to change a persons skin colour in certain settings would cause an irreparable change in the dynamic - one which might not make sense when telling the story as written.

You know what I really hate though? People who write sigs that look like the message carries on :)

reply

Agreed.

That would be like filming a movie in an all black area, or all Spanish area, hell even an all Italian area in the 70’s and expecting to see a melting pot of diff races. The world, especially the US, and parts of UK were extremely segregated. Everyone stuck to “their own”. it is a HUGE part of history.

Hollywood as a whole has some major issues. Not just racist, but sexist as well.

However I did notice one black woman (one of the four stewardesses, dressed in all red.)
