When I saw this movie in the theaters as well as on TV, the Happy Working song was so creepy to me. It wasn't the song as much as the scene it was in. Rats creep me out. Even though it's just a movie, I had to look away during the scene. And then with the daughter and father holding the rats, I was squirming so much! Ugh! And I'm from NYC so I just think about how dirty and disgusting they are, how they could be rabid! The roaches grossed me out too but not as much as the rats.

lol ok let me spell it out for you. There were cockroaches and rats in that scene to make the contrast between the real world and giselle's usual fairy tale world obvious. The movie is obv about a fairy tale princes living in the city (no longer a fairy tale land), and how she brings her old ways, to "grime-filled" reality. They have to show that contrast. Giselle is so sweet that even though the animals are disgusting, she is so lost in her fairy tale fantasy world that she she loves them unconditionally just the same, as if they were the bunny rabbits of the forest.
