Female's shouldn't punch or hit male characters in films. I don't know why it is acceptable for a female to hit a male but it is considered wrong (as it should either way) the other way round. There are many other Disney films where the same happens. It shouldn't be promoted.

People hit people, that's life.

As for Giselle hitting Robert, well she felt anger for the first time in her life, was facing conflicting emotions which she had no control over, so the slight tap she gave him wasn't exactly over the top.
