Robin Williams nails the Irish perfectly

Skit by the great Robin Williams:

"Recently Bono was on stage in Scotland and it was very quiet like it is now. And he started clapping his hands like this. And as he's clapping his hands, he's telling the audience "Every time I clap my hands a child in Africa dies" and from the back of the Scottish audience a voice yelled out

"THEN STOP CLAPPING YER HANDS!!!!!!"

1) Why would the Irish take the title the wrong way?

and

2) Why would they think I was racist?

Racism is when you attack a person because of his/her race.

Since when is Irish a race? I'd say it was a nationality, not a race.

OK, xenophobic then.

You're all wrong, it's not racist it's just plain stupid. The OP drew a stupid conclusion that's all. Bono hasn't been Irish in years, I'd say Robin Williams nailed Bono perfectly, or the Scottish perfectly, or hand clapping perfectly, or children dying in Africa perfectly but I really don't se how it evolves as representative of the Irish. The OP just made the connection so he could post what's really not a very good joke from someone who IMO is not a very good comedian on an Irish board.

That isnt a comment on irish people thats an old joke from the ads where a bunch of celebrities clicked their fingers. Think Jimmy Carr did it as well. It was funny though.
