Sound quality poor?

I really, really wanted to watch this movie, but halfway through I had to quit because of the mumbling and accents. I had no idea anybody was studying medicine, for example.

I've been to Ireland before and had problems with the heavy accents. So when I put this film on this weekend, I turned on the closed caption and nothing came out but a bunch of unreadable dialogue so I just got used to following the action/speaking as best I could. Did anyone else's CC not work on this film? A good film nonetheless.

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, but I was very disappointed that I could not hear most of the dialogue no matter how high I turned up the volume. Too bad because the story seems to be very good. Either the sound quality was poor, or the actors just talked low. Add that to the dialect and the accents, and I was just left watching the action. I tried the subtitles at the beginning, and I didn't like them.

I understood the movie quite well. This first 5 minutes of the first 5 times I watched it, I had to work through the accents, but since then I can understand clear as day as to what was said.

Jeez, no kidding.
I have an immense respect for this film, but the sound quality really just took it down a notch. It definitely wasn't the accents, though, as much as it was just the general mumbling.

I watched it with closed captioning and needed it. They worked fine on my DVD
