Cast

For those of you who have read the script, which actors do you see in each roles?

Thomas - Very hard. Though my choice is Lukas Haas.

Mimi - Natalie Portman, no doubt.

Judith - Diane Lane.

Nathan - Robert DeNiro.

W.F. - William Hurt.

Johanna - It's a hard one. Marisa Tomei?

I am really interested in reading the script "The Only Living Boy in New York". If you have a copy and would like to lend it to me please reply to this comment.

For the college student... maybe adam brody. Seriously I think this kids very under rated and will blow up sometime in the coming years. This would be a good one for him.

reply

Brody seems too 'nerdy' for this kind of role.

Natalie Portman should be an absolute given as 'Mimi' though.

reply

How does he seem too nerdy? You should check out his other stuff... other than the OC I mean, because in that sense you'd be right.

an example would be to look at zach braff. before garden state he was just some goofy comedy star on Scrubs... and damn funny mind you... then he made garden state and people saw that he is more than just silly.

reply

The kid in A History of Violence. Not sure how old he is, though. Ryan Gosling could probably do it, too.

reply

I think they should cast a unknown for the role of thomas.i just don't picture anyone famous in that role.

reply

Gosling is good choice...everything the lad touches is gold in my opinion. But he maybe a little too old now to play a newly college graduate.

Ryan Gosling is very underated as an actor. He has the potential to be the big star of his generation in terms of serious acting.

Emile Hirsch or James Franco

How can you read the script?

reply

Thomas - Jeremy Sumpter/Kyle Gallner/Nicholas Hoult.

Johanna - Kate Winslet/Gwyneth Paltrow/January Jones. & even though she's not blonde, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe would be PERFECT for that role.

Mimi - Ellen Page/Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Judith - Jennifer Ehle.

Nathan - Clive Owen/Kyle MacLachlan.

It's all academic at this point now....this looks to be dead in the water. Too bad. I had heard good things about it.
