It's just meh. Could have been much better.

I'm a few episodes into the first season and doubt I'll ever watch more. The acting, dialogue and characters all feel mediocre. And the military actions/jargon simply don't ring true. I've seen Generation Kill, and that felt far more real.

Anybody out there particularly like or dislike the Unit? Am I missing something? Also, have you seen Generation Kill? How do you think the Unit compares?

I sort of agree but find it interesting enough to go for a few more episodes past the first season. The acting is mediocre and the storylines are boring and the way they are executed is pretty unconvincing but for some reason I'm willing to give it a chance having watched the first eight episodes. I don't know why, maybe i just like having it play in the background.

I don't think it's fair to compare something like this to GK. This is more like a daytime soap with it's cliches and predictability but like yourself, I get the feeling it could have been much better.

I've seen both. Both have their good an bad qualities. The real military is not marketable to the majority of the public therefore it's not done. Hollywood makes it look more romantic for those who have no idea what they are watching.

I hate this christian religitard stuff at most.

I came to this show because I saw David Mamet's name on it. I was SO, SO disappointed. I had a similar reaction to The Newsroom which I came to through Sorkin's name.
