Definitely rethinking

Chuck was strange this finale. I think we all agree. Now that I’ve gotten over my anger regarding the retcon I did some additional thinking. One thing that bothered me when I first watched it was the episode where Anael and Cas go to the Pawn Shop and talk to ? - I can’t remember his name. Pawn Shop Guy says that Joshua made something that he was able to use to communicate with God and it was somewhere in all the junk. Cas finds the amulet and makes his prayer to God. Cas receives no response so he tells the Pawn Shop Guy that it didn’t work to which the Pawn Shop Guy said “Yeah, IT NEVER WORKED FOR JOSHUA EITHER.” Really? He had just said the direct opposite. I handwaved as bad writing or continuity error. Now I’m not so sure. Maybe it did work for Joshua but who he contacted was not our God and he knew it so never used it again. Maybe the materials he made the amulet out of were impure? I’m thinking Cas got thru but it was to DarkChuck. Remember when Chuck says there are many universes? A yellow one. One with all squirrels. One in all reverse? I thought he meant reverse as in motion but now I’m thinking he meant reverse as in mirror. He was dropping a hint as to where he was from. A mirror universe. He is the direct mirror reverse of our Chuck. Dark where ours is good. So yes, Chuck answered Castiels prayer, it just wasn’t the right one. With all the warnings from Billie about the dangers of jumping universes and Rowena with her warning to Jack over what may come back? And the Mirror Universe Company. Hello? Like Benny says “Sea You Later? C’mon.” So if this is so and our Chuck is still our Chuck and Sam and Deans Supernatural stays intact as it has been without all this threatened retcon? I’ll have to hate this episode and Dabb just a tiny bit less. Thoughts?

Oops just went over the transcript and Methuselah initially says Joshua used it to contact God - he never says it was successful and then after Cas finds it he says it never worked for Joshua either. That doesn’t change the fact that it could still have allowed Cas to contact God but DarkGod got the call.

I love your theory well thought though. Something struck me when that scene aired that the Amulet didn't look anything like Dean's amulet that he wore around his neck. I have an amulet in my Jewellery box and got it out and it sure was very different. Could this also be a clue, that Cas reached out to a fake God in another universe?

It just seemed strange in which God appeared, the moment in which he appeared that made me feel suspicious. Also why not keep something as valuable close by him and not leave something so valuable littered in the shop some where, that never made sense.

It also feels odd that Sam and Dean would be just pawns in his game. The real God I don't think would act this sloppy. Would he?? Now we have six months to wait to find out, damned hiatus ....

I never thought the amulet (original) was of any particular monetary value. I don’t think theamulet in the pawn shop is supposed to look the same. Who knows who created Deans. Might be interesting to find out but I don’t trust Dabb to address that properly so I’d rather he completely keep his mitts off Deans amulet storyline.

Its was just a thought in my head floating around. That it didn't look like the original. Maybe they'd lost the original prop like some things on set that its happened too. I just thought it might be a clue to God being a fake.

There is no "Dark Chuck". One Chuck created multiple versions of the universe and multiple versions of angels and humans. My thought is that this is meant to show that god is, essentially, an asshole. I mean, read the bible. And the whole season with Amara was made to picture him that way. In the end, she seemed the normal one. Plus, the creators of the show have always repeated that they do use known religious material, but interpret it the way they decide.

When has Supernatural ever cared about continuity, logic, or realism?

I’ve watched from Day 1 and will watch the final season - but mostly because I’m a masochist. I should’ve stopped 10 seasons ago... but it just became habit.

Supernatural is little more than a soap opera for the fan girls. The characters, the writing, and the story lines have just about 0 appeal. You just have to turn off your brain and leave it on in the background while you work on your laptop or do something actually productive.

It's a fun show that often doesn't take itself too seriously. I watched it mostly for the "gang" - Sam, Dean, Cas and Crowley. The actors had fun working together and it showed. By dropping established characters, the rapport goes and the easiness goes with it, if you know what I mean.

It is fun at times, esp. when they’re poking fun at themselves and doing a “meta” episode.
