Just didn't feel it (spoilers)

I don't feel as invested as before. When John died, Jo and Ellen, Booby - it was emotional. But the show has had so many "die - come back" that the emotion is wearing out. Didn't feel it even when Crowley died, cause you expect him to come back at any moment.

So, now, even though they tried to make it as if she's gone for good, Mary's death was just - meh...

P.S. I just realized, 4 days later, that I wrote "Booby", not "Bobby". :D

reply

It feels like Mary's death was foreshadowed, like I felt it is was coming. So, I wasn't that surprised by it.

reply

I've been expecting it. She's hasn't been around lately. Was hoping she would have a bigger connection with Jack's story line.

reply

What do you mean a bigger connection with Jack's storyline?

reply

As always with our writers Sammi, they don't flesh the story out they get so far with characters then we hit a brick wall its finished. Its so damned annoying.

I sort of sensed something but can't put my finger on her dying, it felt too soon to kill her off. She's only been back three years and is used to stage how Jack has gone to the dark side. Like she's some sort of pawn in a game. The whole Lucifer thing is boring now, thinking back when Sam had his break down S7 and Lucifer was torturing Sam in his mind.

I will miss Mary, and I did feel something when her death happened, and keep wondering where Jack had taken her. I kept wondering if either Lucifer or Mary would come back and Lucifer comes back as a figment in Jack's mind. Some deaths on this show are cheap, and meaningless but sometimes Death does filter around us, and assume we have a connection. I think the fandom haven't got used to having Mary back and haven't really bonded with either her or Jack and their story lines. I do think they have chemistry with each other, and kept thinking why has Jack's powers gotten so out of control that he can't control them any more. Is Jack still dying, some are saying he will go nuclear? I hate the thought of this. But feels its going this way that his powers are too big for his body and its getting overwhelmed when he uses his powers.

It's a shame with some of the writing. Maybe that's why the boys thought it was a good idea to end the show, it's fizzling with the stories and what's left for them to do? I personally think there are other things they could tackle, but Lucifer continued to linger even after they killed him off, that was annoying. Come to think of it, they are doing it over and over again. Michael was barely used and when he was, it wasn't for very long. I think I read a theory that's why Jack is turning dark, because he's got Michael in there. Jack said Michael is gone, but how do we know?

Sadly, I think this is what they planned all along for Jack, to turn dark. Now, this doesn't mean he will die for good. It seems killing/stopping Jack is the next battle, but I still feel something is going on, none of us are expecting. But, that could be me hoping it's going to go in a direction that hasn't been speculated.

reply

Are guesses don't often turn out as we thought. Times in the past I think could this or that turn out and it doesn't. Its hard to call what the finale will be about. Maybe Jack does end up in the Malok box which is all I can think of at the moment. I did wonder about what you said about Michael in Jack too, which is why his body maybe can't handle the power its housing. He can't cope with it which is why he's been having these little out bursts of temper flaring up. He's way too young to handle such powers. I think he will at some point explode. He's teleporting all over the place and can't stay in one place for long with out global hoping to the next destination. Like Rowena said he's body is digesting itself and perhaps the powers are struggling to settle in his body. They are not in the right body which is why he reacts.

I am so fed up with Lucifer, its time to chuck in that towel. They over play him, and Cas hardly gets a story who's been on the show for years. I don't get either why he's a series regular but that's another story. Your thinking about J2 wanting to end it because of the writing is a fair point. But when we do get good stories they are really wonderful to watch. Best part of the season after Christmas has been really strong after reading reviews on what other fans think. I love Berens, Glynn and Yockey at present. I hope J2 really get some strong idea's into next season and we go out on a high. I think Jensen is keen for this to happen and its nice they've been given that chance of being apart of the story boards and having sessions with the writers.

reply

I just wished that we would have seen more of her helping Jack. Like how to handle his powers soul or soulless. (After all he's really only a 2 year old.)

reply

This is by now what we get, the writers are NOT fleshing out stories. Again they don't give plots long enough to expand and give it time to grow and allow us to see its full potential. Demon Dean ring a bell?!?!? Maybe this is what annoyed J2 too!

Both had good on screen chemistry together and our writers had to kill one of them off, just for drama and suspense. Mary was doing fine mentoring Jack, and Jack liked being around her. As I've said before, Mary has only been back three years, as we saw on her heaven door. What was really the point in bringing her back just to kill her off so soon. Are they brining Sam and Dean back full circle as to being on their own entirely for S15 is this where its all heading like the early days. Mary and Lucifer killed off in one episode next, Jack. Who's left Castiel who is already on bad terms with Dean, again... So it could be a possibility. Because that could give the writers more screen time to S & D which fans seem to be really crying out for. I also think it would allow the finale ending to be much more dramatic when there are no semi cast members involved. Just a theory/possibility. J2 want to go out BIG, so is this a hint of what might be to come?

reply

I didn't really want to see Demon Dean to last. My theory was the real problem was the Mark and what he had to go through to get rid of it. But as we know Dean is really a fatalist and had given up on finding the way out. Also like when Billie told him the only way out for Michael Dean was to be imprisoned in a box. Again he didn't want to find a way out.

Both are alike in that respect. Sam was willing to die to close the gates of hell and Dean couldn't see his how to get rid of Michael unless he locked himself into a magical box. Those are just two examples. But when one gives up the other sort of slaps him around and says he can't live without the other.

What frustrates me the most is they keep writing that each say there shouldn't be any secrets between them and yet there usually is It also frustrates me when Cass goes off to "fix" something and of course doesn't tell the guys what he is trying to do. And there's are way too many examples of that.

Let me say now that I don't want S15 to end with them driving off a the edge of a mountain, nor going out like Butch and Sundance. I also don't want it to end like the Sopranos. I want to feel safe and sound knowing they're still out there fighting evil things.

I so agree with you about the above re endings? On IMDb we often talked about possible endings, and more recently Jensen talked of them both driving in baby and driving off a cliff with just a baron desert land below them. I would hate, hate, hate this. They wouldn't survive. Its like Jensen seems to want both of them to die or at least one of them. When he had that dream at a convention once and explained to fans about the motorbike story I just cried. Sam died and Dean decided to sell baby to a complete stranger, dressed in bikers leathers handing over the keys, and driving off on his own. No Sam, no need for a car to hold a passenger. He just drove off on the bike into the sunset.

Its amazing the variations I have read, and how imaginative fans and our actors are in explaining their possible ending theories. I think keeping them ALIVE is their only best option. Driving off to another hunt, I feel is my favourite possibility. I never saw the Soprano's so have no clue of that ending. I know exactly what you mean about feeling safe knowing their still out there fighting a good cause. Otherwise we have no extended hope of a movie, mini series or animations whatever the boys want to do related to the show afterwards. I am gonna sorely miss them on screen together, it will break my heart...

reply

Re the Sopranos. I never watched it but did catch the last few minutes of the last show because I was changing channels. The ending was the main character sitting in a diner, looks up and the screen went black. So you don't know if it was a good meeting or bad one.

reply

I dont mean to bust in on your twos convo, but I would be disappointed if it ends anything like Sopranos, depending on the situation, it would feel like an unresolved ending, a cliffhanger for the end of the series, boo.

I didn't like Jensen's dream of not fighting to save Sam and selling his car. Sad story and all, but I dont think Dean would do that. I dont want them to die, but to end the brothers separately to the end of the series is in all the ways wrong.

I was going to post a thread on how all would think the series is going to end, and how you want it to end.

reply

We could do a separate thread if you want.

I think endings are personal to the viewer as we all have different feelings about how we want the show to go out. So many have disagreed with others after reading on different forums and my head began to hurt. We've been dreading the day, and I think whatever happens I have said a million times I don't want either or one of them dying. Not after all these years doesn't feel right. I didn't like Jensen's dream either Sammi as you said its not like something Dean would do without fighting to save his brother, he would without doubt, hesitation find a way to save Sam, do a deal whatever. Which was why it didn't sit with me when I heard him on you-tube say it to the audience and they all cried out loud. I couldn't stomach that, and for years after would nag at me thinking why did they end it this way? They both need to live, and survive whatever they go into battle against or what's the point.

reply

I have a thread idea, I'll post it later...soon :)

Foreshadowed? Try sledgehammered.

Welp I’m hoping for a really original didn't see that coming twist for the season end but this IS Dabb so it will probably be boringly predictable. Because it’s Dabb. I’m expecting as I’ve said elsewhere, a Willow/Xander yellow crayon moment where at the last moment Jack will have a “flashback epiphany” - either by remembering (or Cas will tell him) the moment he witnessed Castiels selfless act in which in order to save Jack, made the deal with the Empty Entity. And it will touch Jacks little nougat loving non-soul? so deeply that he will let Chicago - Oops, right show, earlier episode- he will let the universe stay. And the Jack, Sam and Dean will go fishing right after Cas takes him snake shopping.

reply

You nailed it.

I have no emotional reaction to anything on this show any more. When someone dies, we’re totally, Meh. They’ll be back.” We all joke about it - just like the writers and characters (note Dean made a joke about it in the finale).

It’s all soap opera melodrama all the time now.
