MovieChat Forums > Supernatural (2005) Discussion > Why supernatural is ending? J2 answer

I'm probably wrong but, to me, Jared's body language tells me he isn't fully onboard with ending the show. Maybe a 70/30 decision with Jensen leading the way. Just my two cents.

Seems like this article might be wrong then according to those sources?

I feel a bit like Reeveman seems like Jared is holding back and tighter in his expressions.

Which article may be wrong?

The one I posted from SPN hunters Sammi.

It always felt to me that Jared was the one that would be okay with it ending. He has said repeatedly that he wouldn’t work as an actor on the regular whereas Jensen is just the opposite, intending to continue on with his career. Personally I would love to see Supernatural continue of for many years but if I have to be brutally honest with myself, except for here and there, the writing has been lacking for some time. And for the most it’s not the ideas - it’s the follow thru. How many times have they had choice, juicy storylines and either cut them short or wimped out on the follow thru? Poor Jensen. Learns to weld for the Malok Box episode and then the show, instead of really going for it (ugh, it could have been so glorious) just grounds out. And I’m waiting for it to become Jacks prison instead. Like I said before - something died in me toward the show when the killed Michael off so cheaply. If Jensen isn’t insulted with the way they handled his “new” character then I will be for him. You know what the crime is in the show ending at 15? It didn’t have to.

They both look as if they have set themselves up well for the future. Though I don’t know how one walks from a situation where your the star of your own show and all the perks that go along with - working alongside your best friend, a beloved crew, respect, the attention, their own trailers, steady stream of money...to? No longer J2. No longer the lightening in the bottle Duo. Just another actor on some show? Maybe lead, maybe not. Maybe acting, maybe not. Unless they have something already lined up. I’m sure they won’t miss the constant travel and they will finally get the family, friends and down time they have missed out on. It will be so weird not seeing new Winchester adventures week to week.

Jensen had that sparkling look in his eyes when he said about being excited for S15 and going in his words 'BIG'. Jared hardly spoke occasionally butting in but you could tell he was worn down. Like heavy baggage. I bet they have all had conversations with each other, the network, the writers, the producers, the crew, the cast. as it was said in that article. I can imagine that Jensen may and mean this in a light way pushed ahead in ending it. I think out of the two men, Jensen may do well after the show, but have my doubts with Jared. I don't think Jared will do a big series any more and may venture into movies. I also read he likes to produce, so he may go behind the camera behind the scenes too. I would love to see Jensen as a super hero like Captain America which he said he never went for the part. Someone like Batman, Spider man, would be huge projects for him, and he has those chizzled looks to be a dashing and charismatic superhero.

It really saddens me to my heart that we will not see them together on TV again after this. Maybe, Maybe not. Conventions are to carry on, as I think that keeps them in work and regular contact with this family. I don't think they ever want to loose site of us, their fans. Both actors together on screen have amazing repour and on-screen presence. And I think that is a goldmine for this show, when you think of merchandise that has been sold over the years. Its a chemistry that will be hard to beat when I find if I do another show that captures me in the same way as these two actors who appear to be so very close just like natural brothers off-set. Its a real shame the story telling dipped and get that they never pushed those stories that they tried to develop and just lost the bottle to flesh them out. Its infuriated me over the years, and they never seemed to learn from it.

I also think Jensen will do fine after the show ends. He has great range in his acting and has shown that throughout the show. Not to be insulting but Jared can be somewhat wooden at times. Of course, this is parodied by the show itself in "Fan Fiction" where the boys are directly mirrored by Marie and Maeve. And for the record, the actress that played Marie absolutely nailed that performance. Like Jensen, she brought a ton of nuance to her character.

If Jensen doesn't end up with a giant career, there's something wrong.

He reminds me of Clint Eastwood and could be in a LOT of really good movies.

The bizarre thing about the CW is that they don't promote their stars very much. You never hear gossip about them and so on, and I don't get it. Usually, actors pay for fake coverage and drama it tends to make females like them and gain a following.

This isn't BS either as there were movies made about that way back in the 40s.

Anyway, it means that the actors end up fading away. The guy from Vampire Diaries was AWESOME in the Ian Summerhold, or whatever, and where is he at? It's weird.

I know Jensen has said he’d love to do a cowboy movie. Sadly those don’t seem to currently be much in demand. That’s a role I’d enjoy seeing him in.

When I think of Jensen in a cowboy movie I think of the episode Frontierland where Dean is so proud of his serape and "authentic" western wear only to get ridiculed once he gets in town. Still, Ackles could pull it off.

You know what's crazy, I used to post a LOT on the IMDB forums.

I brought up many months before that Jensen would be great in a western and could do an Eastwood level character. It got a huge number of posts, then the "joke" episode came out!

I wondered if my thread inspired that episode!

Whatever the case, he would be great in a western if he played a Dean kinda character. He would also be great in a cop movie or a film noir thriller.

It's not great to be typecast but Dean is such a great character and Jensen brings it so excellently, it's like Dean is real. So, similar characters would be a path to success.

PLUS, I love Eastwood, but he was extremely wooden in movie after the westerners. Jensen is a much better actor at this point, so I wish him success.

I’d love to see Jensen have the opportunity to work with a Showrunner who actually recognizes the talent they have at their fingertips. I’d love to see Jensen have an opportunity to really let it rip as Dean but thatsnever going to happen - sadly.

Yeah, that whole introducing cool shit and then wussing out by episode 4-5 really been going on for quite some time, hasn't it?
