Supernatural is quite the enigma. Die-hard fans who have stuck through its 12 seasons will know how much of a rich and thrilling joyride it has been for over a decade.

But for any Winchester noobs out there, it just sounds like the biggest load of absolute craziness ever put on screen.

With Sam and Dean returning for a 13th season later this year – including a Scooby-Doo cartoon crossover episode, no less – we've picked just eight of the weirdest Supernatural episodes so far.

I would have to add Tall Tales to that list and maybe Monster Movie.

I would also add Mystery Spot, especially for first time viewers that catch this episode as a stand alone.

Agree. Sam stuck in a time loop? Dean dying over and over? Definitely qualifies as a "bonkers" type episode.

Yes! Tall Tales with the slow dancing alien and the whole vintage vampire movie vibe of Monster Movie.

Not just that. But I'd say a supernatural Christmas. Drunken and from folk lore
