What do fans think of the musical
I'll share my thoughts, but I thought I'll hear from you guys first

shareI can't watch it. Every time I try, I get second hand embarrassment and have to shut it off. I also think they should've had DemonDean being cured in the 200th instead of the musical. It's not like anyone from the show was actually singing in it anyway.
shareThey were very divided. There was a lot of hate for it and also many people who loved it. One of the most polarizing episodes ever.
shareI've only seen the first half, I couldn't watch more as I was dying of embarrassment. However the episode has lots of fans who thought it was wonderful.
It's one of those episodes you either love or hate. I don't think there's a middle ground. :)
I loved it. I loved the music and the message to fans. The J's seemed to be having a geat time with it. I agree though that it shouldn't have been the 200th episode. That should have been a much more dramatic ep about finding and curing Demon Dean.
shareI don't remember IMDb at the time liking it. It never felt it was a divided episode that it was liked or hated. It felt more like hated. We had heated arguments over it, that it was basically crap and not very creative. And more were rightly gutted that Demon Dean didn't live long and they cut that story short for that crap. Even Jensen had trouble with it, which surprised many as they got a feeling that J2 liked the concept and were going along with it. I felt it was directed towards the younger age bracket fans, and not covering the demographic as a whole. Mature women didn't want to watch teenage girls dress up as Sam and Dean who don't even really look like our characters. Anyone can wear a trench coat, but to play Cas off takes a good actor, and these guys were poor. I remember a group of girls with Osric doing a video with a current track, and we all said now that should have been the 200th not what we were dealt! I can't remember the group anyone remember?
The characters were obnoxious and down right narky and the story just felt poor in comparison to what the show can write when they do comedic episodes. We know what they are capable of, and don't feel they pulled it off. I didn't at the time want a musical for the 200th, I wanted it to be more significant and special for me and felt let down. I think if they had included music from the show, music that fans associated with the show might have gone down better. Soft/hard rock would have suited with a story to run alongside that rock theme maybe.
I was very disappointed.
It definitely goes into the Marmite category of Supernatural episodes.
shareAt first I thought this post said, "What do fans think of a musical" like where Dean and Sam would have to sing.
I thought "Fan Fiction" was great episode. It was funny and played back on the show.
I liked Fan Fiction. I was not a fan of the Demon!Dean storyline so I was happy it ended early. But I was worried that Dean wouldn't be himself; that there would be a lot of self-loathing and angst, so I was glad the "reset" came in the form of a lighthearted episode that we could move on from. And I thought it was funny. Ok, mostly it was silly but it made me laugh.
shareGood too see some discussion. Well here is my review. I thought using a muse was different instead of rehashing topas. I was excited at seeing the scarecrow making a comeback as I felt he was part of the better season one episodes and being used to being her sacrifices. I wish they had cut her out or had her showing her true form. Her motives were the best so far as she was all for creativity and didn't want the show shut down.
I found some of the songs forgettable, but I felt the last two showed insight as Dean was hiding behind a man and they were both wayward children looking for a place called home. Very touching.
The effects were amazing for a play of that caliber and I found the inside jokes enjoyable. I wonder if the writers themselves found the last couple of seasons rubbish as they do poke at at Dean's story being the worst fan fiction created up.
Glad to see Chuck making an appearance as he shows up at the last minute. His fate left up in the air after not being seen for a few seasons. He seemed so proud of his creation, humbled, and if the reports are true that he's God I feel it revived his enthusiasm for mankind.
I was expecting a not thought out gimmick and was moved near the end. It earns Five stars.
