Curious what they mean by whatever happens in this episode being something that goes into next year.

reply

And I guess they're having Claire say Sam is old now too. That makes a change, I guess.

reply

People are speculating this episode is a set up for the wayward daughters spin off.

reply

It could be. Maybe they think Kathryn got enough recognition with Big Little Lies to be a draw. I'm guessing it'll be Teen Bloodlines with Claire and Kate as werewolves, Alex as the vampire expert, and Jody as the den mother. Maybe Dabb will go do that and leave Supernatural alone.

reply

Well, Kathryn's character is the one misstep for me in "Big Little Lies" - can't stand her the same way I couldn't stand her when she showed up as the, what a surprise, surly nasty daughter in "Halt and Catch Fire" too. The girl doesn't have to try and act since she simply plays the exact same character from show to show, which makes me feel that she isn't acting at all. Unlike some fans, I wasn't anymore impressed with her when I saw her in person at a con either.

Hey, I'm all for them spinning off these characters/actors I can't be paid enough money to like or care about. I'm not going to watch, so it really doesn't matter to me what they try to do. If they really are still planning to attempt a teen "Bloodlines" show, which I have no doubt Dabb still wants to do, I'm guessing there will be a regular Winchester presence, as in Mary Winchester - and, again, I'm all for it. Take her, take her please!

reply

It would get brooding teens off the show. I quite like Alex though.

reply

(I'm really enjoying Big Little Lies.)

The actress is apparently popular on set so she must have a fun side. But the second the cameras roll - no matter the show - she becomes the quintessential moody sullen teen. She seems unable to play any other type.

reply

Wow... This does not... look good.

reply

No. I did like Dean getting in Mick's face though.

reply

I'm annoyed that he's working with Mick at all.

reply

What precipitated that argument? Was Mick saying they should kill Claire? Maybe there isn't a cure. It also looks like he continues to be a bit of a screw up. Why are they letting him go on the hunt with them next week?

reply

Mick said it was their job to kill monsters and he took a jab at Dean for working with demons and witches (Rowena and Crowley). Mick probably wants to kill Claire. I wish he would.

"Why are they letting him go on the hunt with them next week?"

Because Andrew Dabb is the guy who wrote Bloodlines and thinks this BMOL storyline is interesting?

reply

"Mick said it was their job to kill monsters and he took a jab at Dean for working with demons and witches (Rowena and Crowley). Mick probably wants to kill Claire."

Yeah, I was thinking that a discussion about Claire lead to him saying what he did about killing monsters.

"I wish he would."

Maybe he will or at least call it in to Ketch? If that's the case then it probably means the BMoL is the thing that will carry over to next season. I was really hoping they were going to wrap that up this season. If I had to choose between them letting Claire live/using this as a springboard for the spin off and the BMoL next season, I'd choose the former.

reply

I too hope Mick calls Ketch. Arthur would make a quick work of Claire.

I also hoped they would wrap up the BMOL storyline this season. Dabb seems to live on his own world where the BMOLs are a popular addition to this series. I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with you about letting Claire live the trade off is getting rid of Davies and Co. This is all so uninspiring.

reply

"Because Andrew Dabb is the guy who wrote Bloodlines and thinks this BMOL storyline is interesting?"

This is a brilliant answer. :)

reply

Thanks ;D
I couldn't help myself. This sneak peek's got me in a mood.

Claire is a fan favorite? Do they watch the show? or read comments?

Jim Michaels tweeted a teaser about the teaser for next season....

"Claire is a fan favorite? Do they watch the show? or read comments?"

I know, I had the same reaction. Clearly they're choosing to focus on the Wayward people. I don't believe a spin off with Claire would be successful but what do I know.

That sentence sounds like it belongs on The Flash. These are the titles of 2 episodes from the current season of The Flash:
"Borrowing Problems from the Future"
"The Once and Future Flash"
not to mention the use of the word "speed" (speedster). That's all I have lol.

reply

Ugh... so one of the Winchesters gets stuck in the future? Please let it be Mary and the brothers are fine with it.

reply

I don't know if that's what it means but I'm always in favor of any scenario that gets Mary away from Dean, AND from me lol.

reply

I remember that tweet. I just didn't remember the episode. It makes me think of Back to the Future for some reason.

reply

"Claire is a fan favorite? Do they watch the show? or read comments?"

They seem to have this amazing ability to only seek out/find/read the positives and ignore anything negative that's written. The only one I've seen who might take notice is Perez, and that's because he made a comment in an interview for 12.12* and was being coy in giving spoilers by saying something about both brothers being in it. The way it was said made me think he noticed the comments about Dean disappearing during American Nightmare.

*corrected

reply

American Nightmare seemed like it was edited really poorly. I got the feeling that a whole bunch of scenes got cut so we could watch Magda self flagellating herself for waaaaayyyy too long.

reply

I think the editing has been off this season, but I don't think that's all that was wrong in that particular episode. I think we were seeing work from someone who is credited as only writing 2 episodes of American Crime. That's it. Other than that he was an uncredited staff writer for 3 episodes of American Crime, a story editor, a writers production assistant, and a production coordinator.

reply

Oh I agree the new writers have very little experience and it shows sometimes. There were a couple of scenes where Dean had a reaction to something that was said and it seemed like Jensens acting choices were because he had another scene scripted or filmed that would explain Dean's reaction. But yes Dean drove off (to another state? country?) and was gone all night for no logical reason.

I'm not real happy with the Crime Caper of the week theme this season either.

reply

Oh yeah. Here's the quote that made me think he noticed (He's talking about 12.15 here):

"Both Sam and Dean have great moments, and we see both of them in all five acts, so that should make a lot of people happy."

reply

Yep that does look like he noticed. Both of the lead actors need to be engaged in the episode unless there is a reason one isn't available.

reply

Am guessing it is the idea of the killing of monsters wholesale scatters them and forces them to start killing if they don't and fighting back against hunters.

Basically what the alpha and the vamps did.
